Comment:
Entamoeba hartmanni and Iodamoeba butschlii in faecal smear stained with Trichrome. Entamoeba hartmanni cyst 5 - 10 microns with 4 nuclei with a small compact central karyosome. Iodamoeba butschlii cyst 5 - 20 microns (average 10 - 12) oval to round, 1 nucleus with no peripheral chromatin and large karyosome usually eccentric, characteristic large glycogen mass staining red-brown with Iodine but clear in this Trichrome stain. Both non-pathogenic, although their presence does indicate a lack of sanitation and hygiene conditions.
